Game Rules: Stuck in the Mud

Game Identity

• Name: Stuck in the Mud
• Player Count: 2–8 players. Standard: 3–5.
• Teams: No teams. All players compete individually.
• Theme: Dice game where rolling 2s or 5s "sticks" those dice (removes them from scoring) until none are left to score.

Scoring Mechanics

• Scoring Variant: Accumulative — each turn's total is added. Highest total after all rounds wins.
• Target Score: Fixed rounds (standard: 5 rounds). Highest cumulative score wins.
• Unit of Scoring: Points per turn (sum of non-stuck dice per roll).
• Lower vs. Higher: Higher score wins.

Rules & Validation

Turn Structure

1. Player rolls all 5 dice.
2. Any dice showing 2 or 5 are "stuck" — set aside, they score nothing and cannot be re-rolled.
3. The remaining (unstuck) dice are summed and added to the player's turn total.
4. Player rolls the remaining unstuck dice again. Repeat steps 2–3.
5. Turn ends when all dice are stuck (no dice left to roll) or optionally when the player chooses to bank.
6. Turn total is recorded.

• Example: Roll 5 dice, get 2-5-3-4-6. The 2 and 5 are stuck. Score 3+4+6=13. Roll 3 remaining dice, get 5-1-4. The 5 is stuck. Score 1+4=5. Roll 2 remaining dice, get 2-3. The 2 is stuck. Score 3. Roll 1 remaining die, get 5. Stuck. Turn total = 13+5+3 = 21.

Validation Rules

• Turn total is always non-negative.
• Minimum turn total: 0 (all dice stuck on first roll).

Special Actions / Bonuses

• Completely Stuck First Roll: All 5 dice show 2 or 5 = 0 for the turn.
• Clean Roll: No 2s or 5s in any roll of the turn = maximum scoring.

Win Conditions

• Condition: After the agreed number of rounds (standard: 5), the player with the highest cumulative total wins.
• Tie-Breaker: Tied players each take one additional turn; highest single-turn score wins.
